Matildas announce squad for October friendlies against Germany and Haiti

Matildas head coach Joe Montemurro has announced a 26-player squad for upcoming international friendlies against Germany and Haiti in Europe. The selection includes three debutants: goalkeeper Courtney Newbon of Melbourne Victory, defender Tori Tumeth of Vancouver Rise, and midfielder Hana Lowry of Vålerenga IF.

Lowry earns a recall to the squad following a previous selection in 2024 that was interrupted by an ACL injury. The squad also features returning players Charli Grant, Alexia Apostolakis, and Daniela Galic. However, several key players will be absent, including Alanna Kennedy and Charlize Rule due to injury, and Kyra Cooney-Cross, who is continuing her return to football following a personal bereavement.

Montemurro stated that the matches serve as vital preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, aiming to test tactical adjustments and build squad depth. The team will face Germany in Karlsruhe, Germany, followed by a match against Haiti in Chambly, France.
