Matildas player activity and international scheduling

Australian women’s national football players, known as the Matildas, are active in both European club competitions and upcoming international fixtures.

In club football, several Matildas are scheduled to compete in the Women’s Super League in England, including players for Everton, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Additionally, Winonah Heatley is set to compete for AS Roma in the Serie A Cup semi-final in Italy.

For the October FIFA International window, Head Coach Joe Montemurro has named a 26-player squad for friendlies against Germany and Haiti. The selection includes three debutants: goalkeeper Courtney Newbon (Melbourne Victory), defender Tori Tumeth (Vancouver Rise), and midfielder Hana Lowry (Vålerenga IF). Lowry returns to the squad following a previous selection that was interrupted by an ACL injury. Other returning players include Charli Grant, Alexia Apostolakis, and Daniela Galic.

Several players remain unavailable: Alanna Kennedy and Charlize Rule are sidelined due to injury, while Kyra Cooney-Cross is continuing her return to football following a personal bereavement. Montemurro stated these matches serve as “vital preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup,” intended to test tactical adjustments and build squad depth. The team is scheduled to play Germany in Karlsruhe, Germany, on October 9, and Haiti in Chambly, France, on October 13.
