Matildas to face Colombia in two-match series starting in Canberra

The Matildas will play a two-match series against Colombia this November as part of their preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The first match is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, at GIO Stadium in Canberra. The location for the second encounter in the series has not yet been announced.

This series offers Australia a chance to rematch Colombia, who won their previous meeting 2-1 during the 2025 SheBelieves Cup. Head coach Joe Montemurro intends to use these matches to expose the squad to different styles of play and to integrate younger players into the national team, following a developmental blueprint used by the Socceroos.

Football Australia Executive Director Heather Garriock noted that facing high-quality opposition like Colombia is vital for the team's progression toward the next World Cup.
