Mato Grosso corn and soy sectors forecast record output, rising costs

Corn harvested in Mato Grosso is projected to account for about 25% of the state's agricultural gross production value in 2026, worth roughly R$ 42.27 billion. The forecast a record 57.06 million tonnes, driven by expanded planted area, high yields and sustained commodity prices.

For the 2026/27 soy harvest, production costs are expected to rise 3.35% to R$ 4,321.32 per hectare. The increase stems mainly from higher fertilizer, corrective and diesel expenses, linked to global market pressures from the Middle‑East conflict and the looming El Niño weather pattern.
