Mato Grosso court orders Bosaipo and accountants to pay R$ 80 million

A judge in Mato Grosso has ordered former state deputy Humberto Melo Bosaipo and accountants José Quirino Pereira and Joel Quirino Pereira to pay more than R$ 80 million within 15 days. The amount includes fines for administrative improbability and reimbursements to public coffers resulting from three separate civil actions.

The cases stem from investigations into the misappropriation of funds from the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) between 1999 and 2002, as part of ‘Operação Arca de Noé’. While the original diverted amounts totaled approximately R$ 8.4 million, the updated debt has reached over R$ 80 million due to legal penalties and interest.

In one proceeding, Bosaipo is liable for approximately R$ 24.4 million. Another action requires him to pay over R$ 19 million, while José Quirino Pereira faces a R$ 25.2 million penalty in that same case. A third action involves a joint debt of over R$ 10 million for all three defendants. If voluntary payment is not made within the 15-day window, a 10% fine and court costs will be applied.
