Mato Grosso public corruption investigations

Legal and administrative investigations into financial irregularities in Mato Grosso have resulted in various actions against public entities and individuals.

In one instance, the Court of Accounts of Mato Grosso (TCE-MT) launched an investigation into a land regularization contract between the Intermunicipal Consortium for Economic, Social, and Environmental Development of Vale do Guaporé (Cidesa) and Geogis Geotecnologia. Technical audits suggested overpricing of approximately R$ 527,493.23 and potential manipulation of the bidding process. The companies involved have contested these findings.

Separately, a judge ordered former state deputy Humberto Melo Bosaipo and two accountants to pay more than R$ 80 million. This ruling follows investigations into the misappropriation of funds from the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso between 1999 and 2002, known as ‘Operação Arca de Noé’. While the original diverted amount was roughly R$ 8.4 million, the total has escalated to over R$ 80 million due to interest and legal penalties for administrative improbability.
