Mato Grosso do Sul bridges face closures and safety concerns
The state agency Agesul announced a series of total closures on the bridge over the Rio Miranda on the MS‑345 route to Bonito. Three shutdowns are scheduled: Monday 22 (06:00‑18:00) for neoprene replacement, Tuesday 23 to Wednesday 24 (06:00‑06:00) for concrete work on beam clamps, and Monday 29 to Tuesday 30 (06:00‑06:00) for further concrete work. Drivers are urged to use the MS‑178 detour via Guia Lopes da Laguna, and after the works traffic will operate under a “stop‑and‑go” system with weight limits of 10 tonnes.
Separately, motorists on the MS‑316 route reported visible damage on the bridge over the Rio Mimoso, raising fears of collapse during the peak agricultural season. Users have called for an urgent technical inspection and preventive measures, warning that the heavily trafficked bridge is vital for grain, livestock and other agribusiness transport in the region. Authorities have not yet announced any closures, but drivers are advised to reduce speed and monitor the bridge’s condition closely.
