Mato Grosso do Sul Civil Police implements ethnic-racial protection protocol

The Civil Police of Mato Grosso do Sul has established a new institutional protocol for the service and protection of people belonging to traditional communities and vulnerable ethnic-racial groups. Signed by General Delegate Lupersio Degerone Lúcio, the measure aims to standardize police procedures to ensure humanized treatment, equality, and non-discrimination.

The protocol covers various groups, including indigenous peoples, quilombola communities, Roma people, and the Black population. It also provides specific guidelines for investigating crimes with potential discriminatory motives, such as racism and racial injury. Authorities are instructed to consider the context of occurrences, the relationship between perpetrator and victim, and the presence of hate speech when conducting investigations.
