Mato Grosso do Sul records 9,729 confirmed chikungunya cases in 2026

The State Health Secretariat (SES) of Mato Grosso do Sul reported 12,735 probable chikungunya cases for 2026, of which 9,729 were confirmed. Twenty‑eight deaths have been confirmed in the municipalities of Dourados, Bonito, Jardim, Fátima do Sul, Douradina, Guia Lopes da Laguna, Itaporã, Ponta Porã and Nioaque, with one additional death under investigation. The bulletin also noted 114 confirmed cases among pregnant women.

For dengue, the state recorded 4,760 probable cases and 1,828 confirmed cases, including one confirmed death in Bonito. Health officials cited 241,030 vaccine doses received and 223,322 administered, of which 201,349 were given to the target population of children and adolescents aged 10‑14 years.

The SES advises anyone with symptoms of dengue or chikungunya to seek medical care and to eliminate standing water that can serve as breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
