Mato Grosso do Sul prosecutors investigate medicine shortages in Campo Grande
The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS) has launched an investigation into shortages of medications, medical supplies, and professional staff across various health units in Campo Grande. Residents have reported a lack of essential drugs, including losartan, metformin, and hydrochlorothiazide, with some shortages reportedly persisting since last year.
In addition to medication shortages, patients at the USF Jardim Macaúbas reported difficulties obtaining diagnostic exams due to equipment failures. The Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau) stated it is working to normalize supplies, noting that issues with companies that won public tenders have hindered distribution. Sesau indicated that measures have been taken to notify these companies and resolve the situation.
