Mato Grosso Electoral Court orders video takedown, reviews disputed poll
The Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) issued a 24‑hour order for pre‑candidate Antero Paes de Barros (PV) to remove a video that alleged Governor Otaviano Pivetta attempted to block a proposal to bar candidates convicted of domestic violence from running for office. Judge Marcelo Alexandre Oliveira da Silva Morgado said the video contained false statements that could damage the governor’s honor and cited electoral law that bars defamatory propaganda in the pre‑electoral period.
Separately, the state directory of the Partido Agir filed a representation with TRE‑MT demanding the nullification of a public opinion poll released by MT Dados Assessoria e Marketing Ltda‑ME. The party claims the poll suffered from technical deficiencies, including auto‑selection of respondents, paid Meta‑platform targeting, missing geographic sampling required by the proportional‑to‑size (PPT) method, and numerical inconsistencies, and therefore should be impugned.
