Mato Grosso electoral court receives 479 candidacy requests for 2026

The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) has concluded the registration period for the 2026 General Elections, receiving 479 candidacy requests. This figure represents a 16.55% decrease compared to the 2022 elections. Court President Serly Marcondes Alves noted that the process was organized and that the reduction in registrations may be attributed to party mergers, incorporations, and the formation of federations.

To manage the operational demands of the upcoming elections, TRE-MT has implemented new service guidelines via Ordinance No. 358/2026. Effective from August 15 to December 18, the court has expanded its hours and established weekend and holiday shifts. Physical and digital services will operate from 7:30 to 14:30 on weekdays, while weekend and holiday shifts will run from 14:00 to 18:00. Hybrid work has been suspended for the duration of this period.

In local political developments, Max Russi, state president of the Podemos party, announced the party's official list of 25 candidates for state deputy in Mato Grosso. Russi expressed a goal of securing between six and seven seats in the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) during the 2026 elections.
