Mato Grosso enacts policy to promote Guardianship Councils

Mato Grosso has enacted Law No. 13.556 to establish a state policy aimed at raising public awareness regarding the importance of Guardianship Councils (Conselhos Tutelares). The law, sanctioned by Governor Otaviano Pivetta and authored by State Deputy Eduardo Botelho, seeks to encourage social mobilization and informed participation in the selection of council members.

The legislation outlines several guidelines to strengthen the protection of children and adolescents. These include educational campaigns, lectures, and seminars held at schools, universities, and community centers. Additionally, the policy promotes the involvement of local community leaders and influencers to expand the reach of information regarding the duties and relevance of these councils in defending youth rights.
