Mato Grosso child welfare and education policy

Overview

In Mato Grosso, efforts to strengthen child welfare and education have progressed from political commitments to formal legislation. Initially, a Charter of Commitments for Early Childhood and Education was delivered to state government candidates to influence the 2027–2030 administration. This document, developed by Gaepe-MT, focused on literacy, student protection, and integrating early childhood needs into state budgeting.

Following these initiatives, Governor Otaviano Pivetta sanctioned Law No. 13.556. This law establishes a state policy to increase public awareness regarding Guardianship Councils (Conselhos Tutelares). The legislation aims to protect children and adolescents through educational campaigns, seminars, and community mobilization to encourage informed participation in the selection of council members.
