Mato Grosso expands civico‑militar schools and launches new adult‑literacy program
The State Secretariat of Education in Mato Grosso announced that 252 state schools have been converted to the civico‑militar model, representing 39.94% of the 631 public schools in operation. The conversion, approved through popular consultations at the schools, pushes the model toward the target of 205 schools by the end of 2026 and will involve further public votes for additional units.
In a separate initiative, the Secretariat released the rules for the 2026 edition of the "Mais MT Muxirum" program, which aims to reduce illiteracy among residents aged 15 and older. Municipalities that sign a participation agreement must appoint local coordinators and select literacy instructors. Coordinators will receive a stipend of R$ 1,300, while instructors will be paid R$ 1,000, each for a limited number of positions, contingent on meeting performance and reporting requirements.
