Brazil fire departments manage wildfires and road obstructions
Fire departments in Brazil are managing various emergency situations, including wildfire suppression, road clearing, and specialized training.
In Mato Grosso, the Military Fire Department (CBMMT) is actively combating multiple forest fires across several municipalities, including Água Boa and Juruena. Recent satellite data from INPE indicated 59 heat spots in the state, with significant activity in the Amazon and Cerrado regions. Additionally, the CBMMT has launched a two-day training course designed to qualify security professionals in providing humanized assistance to women victims of violence.
In Minas Gerais, emergency crews have been responding to significant environmental incidents. Firefighters cleared the LMG-779 highway between Itabira and João Monlevade after heavy rains caused trees to block the road at four different locations. Crews also worked to extinguish a major fire in the Maxakali Indigenous Territory and addressed a significant blaze at Morro do Pires in Nova Lima, where efforts focused on protecting nearby residential areas.
Other reported incidents include medical assistance provided to two women following motorcycle and bicycle accidents in Cáceres, Mato Grosso.
