Mato Grosso police dismantle criminal faction in Rio de Janeiro operation

The Mato Grosso Civil Police launched ‘Operação Dark Route’ to dismantle a criminal faction operating between Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro. The operation involves nine preventive arrest warrants, three search and seizure warrants, and the seizure of five luxury vehicles, including a Porsche Boxster GTS, two BMWs, an Audi A3, and a Volkswagen T-Cross. The seized fleet is valued at approximately R$ 1.5 million.

Investigations conducted by the Organized Crime Combat Management (GCCO/Draco) reveal that the faction used Rio de Janeiro as more than just a hiding place for fugitives. The state served as an operational hub for command, logistics, and protection, concentrating armed soldiers and leadership support. Some members were located in the Complexo do Alemão area.

The group utilized the luxury vehicles for movement, logistics, and wealth concealment. Authorities also identified significant military capacity within the group, noting the use of restricted-use rifles and the organized movement of weapons and ammunition.
