Brazil electoral accessibility: Free transport deadline for voters
The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has established the ‘Seu Voto Importa’ program to ensure accessibility for the 2026 General Elections. The initiative provides free, individual special transportation for voters with disabilities or reduced mobility, including elderly citizens, pregnant women, and members of indigenous and quilombola communities who lack their own means of transport.
September 14, 2026, marks the deadline for requesting this service for the first round of voting, scheduled for October 4. Requests can be made through Regional Electoral Courts (TREs) via official websites or in person at electoral offices. The service may include round-trip travel between a residence and the polling station, as well as an essential companion if required.
Implementation varies by region. While programs are active in hundreds of municipalities across São Paulo and Minas Gerais, some states like Amazonas and Mato Grosso do Sul have not yet implemented the service. In Rio Grande do Norte, the program is operating as a pilot in 15 municipalities. The TRE-MT has also partnered with the Mato Grosso Association of the Disabled to promote the program and encourage participation.
