Mato Grosso soybean costs projected to reach R$ 8,171 per hectare
Projections from the National Rural Learning Service of Mato Grosso (Senar-MT) and the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) indicate rising costs and declining profitability for soybean production in Mato Grosso for the 2026/27 harvest.
The total cost for soybean cultivation is expected to reach R$ 8,171.41 per hectare, representing a 16.69% increase. While the net income per hectare is estimated to drop by 35.05%, the cultivated area is projected to grow slightly by 0.25% to 13.04 million hectares. However, productivity is expected to decrease by 5.43%, leading to a 5.19% drop in total production.
The corn sector faces similar pressures. Although the cultivated area is expected to grow by 0.59%, productivity is projected to fall by 8.05%. For high-technology corn systems, costs have risen by 13.83%, and projected gross revenue is not expected to cover effective operational costs.
