Mato Grosso to receive federal security reinforcement for 2026 elections
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has approved the deployment of federal security forces to reinforce the 2026 General Elections in the state of Mato Grosso.
The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) specifically requested the involvement of the Army and the Navy to operate across 50 polling locations within 23 Electoral Zones. This security measure is intended for the first round of voting scheduled for October 4.
The deployment will cover 30 municipalities, including areas with high concentrations of indigenous territories. According to Judge Edna Coutinho, coordinator of the Integrated Management Office (GGI) of the TRE-MT, the presence of the Armed Forces aims to ensure tranquility, normality, and safety for voters, poll workers, and electoral staff during the voting process.
