Nova Iguaçu implements smart surveillance and women's health initiatives

The city of Nova Iguaçu is advancing several municipal projects focused on public safety and healthcare. The local government is in the final stages of deploying an intelligent monitoring system, which includes the installation of 185 new smart cameras. These devices, which feature facial recognition, automatic license plate reading, and intelligent image analysis, are being integrated with existing traffic monitoring tools. The system is intended to support security forces and can assist in locating missing persons or individuals wanted by the justice system.

In conjunction with the 'Pink October' awareness movement, the city has also launched health mobilization efforts. Through the Municipal Women's Secretariat (SEMUNI), the administration provided specialized services in the Austin neighborhood, including vaccinations, rapid testing, dental care, and guidance on contraceptive methods. These initiatives aim to increase access to early diagnosis for breast and cervical cancer. Additionally, the city conducted a rabies vaccination campaign for animals across 46 service points.
