Matsuya Ginza hosts seasonal shaved ice collection

Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo is hosting the second half of its limited-time event, ‘Kakigori Collection GINZA,’ which features renowned shaved ice specialists from across Japan in a relay format.

From September 4 to September 16, the cafe ‘Kashiya’ from Setagaya is the featured vendor. Operated by Ryusuke Koike, the chairman of the Japan Kakigori Association, the cafe is offering autumn-themed shaved ice using seasonal ingredients such as sweet potato and citrus rare cheese. The pop-up includes a display of historical shaved ice equipment, including vintage manual machines and memorabilia from the Meiji and Showa eras.

In Nara, local dining options continue to highlight regional specialties, including traditional shaved ice from shops like Housekibako and various seasonal culinary experiences in the Naramachi area.
