Japan summer shaved‑ice wave expands

Overview

After a character‑driven shaved‑ice surge that began in late June 2026, the trend spread nationwide through July and August. Tokyo Disney Sea celebrated its 25th anniversary with a limited‑time “シャイブアイス” trio of lemon, apple and peach flavors (¥650) from 1 July to 14 September. In August, Oita City held an eleven‑day Local Shaved Ice Festival (21‑31 August) featuring over 30 varieties from four vendors.
