Mattel releases Marilyn Monroe Barbie to mark her 100th birthday

Mattel has announced the release of a new Barbie Signature collector doll to commemorate the centennial of Marilyn Monroe’s birth. Developed in collaboration with The Estate of Marilyn Monroe LLC, the doll honors the actress’s multifaceted legacy as a performer, producer, and entrepreneur.

The doll’s design is inspired by Monroe’s iconic performance of ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ from the 1953 film ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’. It features a pink satin dress with a large bow on the back, long opera gloves, and diamond-inspired jewelry. The release aims to celebrate Monroe’s enduring influence on fashion and cinema.

This new edition joins previous Barbie collections inspired by Monroe released between 1997 and 2009. The doll is available for order through Mattel Creations and other major retailers, with a suggested retail price of approximately $81.
