Mattel releases Whitney Houston Barbie doll

Mattel has released a new Barbie doll honoring the late pop icon Whitney Houston. Created in collaboration with Pat Houston, the executor of the singer's estate, the doll commemorates what would have been the artist's 63rd birthday.

The doll recreates Houston's iconic look from her 1987 music video for ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’, featuring a purple dress, sophisticated curly hair, specific makeup, and colorful accessories. The product is available for pre-order and purchase in the United States through retailers such as Walmart and Amazon.

Pat Houston stated that the doll celebrates the ‘timeless legacy’ of an icon whose voice and spirit have inspired generations. While the release marks a significant tribute, the estate's team is currently focusing on other projects, including upcoming commemorations for the 35th anniversary of ‘The Bodyguard’.
