Whitney Houston honored with new Barbie Signature Collector doll

Mattel has unveiled a new Barbie Signature Collector doll honoring the late music icon Whitney Houston. The collectible figure is inspired by Houston’s iconic appearance in her 1987 music video for ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).’

The doll features a detailed recreation of her signature 1980s style, including a purple bodycon dress, colorful drop earrings, bold eye makeup, and voluminous curls. It also includes a miniature microphone and stand to capture her stage presence.

Developed in collaboration with Pat Houston, executor of the Whitney E. Houston Estate, and Primary Wave Music, the doll was officially revealed during the fifth annual Legacy of Love Gala in Atlanta. The release coincides with a milestone year celebrating Houston’s four-decade musical legacy and her 63rd birthday. As part of the tribute, the Barbie Dream Gap Project will make a donation to the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation to support educational programs and scholarships for youth.
