Matteo Berrettini advances to Shanghai Masters second round

Matteo Berrettini has advanced to the second round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters following a comeback victory against Aleksandar Kovacevic. After losing the first set in a tie-break, Berrettini won the subsequent sets 6-1, 6-4.

Berrettini demonstrated strong serving during the match, recording 23 aces and winning 91% of his first-serve points without allowing a single break point. He expressed pride in his resilience, stating, ‘I did not give up, I fought and I kept playing – that is exactly the reaction I wanted.’

In the second round, Berrettini is scheduled to face the 16th seed, Brandon Nakashima. Unlike Berrettini, the American player enters the match having received a first-round bye.
