Matteo Ricci: EU Committee approves report to lift immunity

The European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs (Juri) has unanimously approved a report regarding the request from the Pesaro Prosecutor's Office to lift the immunity of Matteo Ricci, the former mayor of Pesaro.

Ricci, who has voluntarily waived his immunity and declined to participate in hearings to expedite the process, stated that the decision follows his request for maximum speed. The case, known as ‘Affidopoli’, involves the use of intercepted conversations with his former collaborator, Massimiliano Santini. The final vote on the matter is expected to take place during the plenary session in Strasbourg on October 5.
