The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT), led by Minister Matteo Salvini, has released additional funding for the "Fondo investimenti stradali nei piccoli Comuni" to improve road safety and maintenance in small Italian municipalities.

Allocations include about €2.9 million for 20 towns in Calabria, €480 000 for four communes in Umbria, €1.148 million for nine communes in Marche, and over €1.1 million for nine projects in Liguria covering Mendatica, Rocchetta Nervina and Bajardo. The fund also provides resources for seven municipalities in the province of Benevento (Sannio) and will continue with a 2025 roll‑over and a 2026 call for proposals.

The measures aim to repair potholes, reinforce road structures and accelerate local construction, addressing the isolation of small towns with populations under 5,000.
