Taylor Sheridan cancels ‘6666’ Yellowstone spinoff

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Yellowstone universe, has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated spinoff titled ‘6666’ will not be produced. Despite Paramount previously announcing the project in 2021, Sheridan stated during an appearance on the ‘Rodeo Time’ podcast that he has no intention of moving forward with the series.

The proposed spinoff was intended to focus on the character Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, and his time at the historic Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. Sheridan, who co-owns the real-life ranch, explained his decision by stating he refuses to ‘fictionalize’ or ‘trivialize’ the location. He expressed a desire to protect the legacy of the ranch and respect the real people, including cowboys, who work and raise families there.

While the ‘6666’ project is cancelled, Sheridan noted that the character arc for Jimmy at the ranch felt complete within the original series, describing the existing footage as a ‘perfect little movie.’ Additionally, actor Matthew McConaughey has confirmed he is in active discussions with Sheridan regarding other potential projects within the expanding franchise.
