Matthew McConaughey updates status of rumored 'Yellowstone' spin-off

Matthew McConaughey has provided an update regarding rumors of his involvement in a 'Yellowstone' spin-off series. Speaking on 'The Playlist' podcast, the actor addressed long-standing speculation about a potential collaboration with creator Taylor Sheridan.

McConaughey stated that while he and Sheridan continue to discuss potential projects, nothing has been officially finalized. He noted, “Taylor and I have spoken and have continued to have conversations about what [it could be] and if that would be whatever. But nothing’s real yet.”

The rumors of a collaboration first gained traction in 2023. Sheridan previously indicated that McConaughey seemed like a “natural fit” for the universe, expressing interest in exploring the clash between a raw, traditional world and the modern era. Although the original 'Yellowstone' series concluded its run in December 2024, the possibility of McConaughey joining the franchise remains an open discussion.
