Maule Region, Chile issues red flood alerts for Linares, Longaví and Molina

Chile’s National Emergency Office (Senapred) declared a red alert for the communes of Linares and Longaví in the Maule Region after the Achibueno River’s flow reached the red threshold amid a strong frontal system. The General Directorate of Water (DGA) reported that the river’s hydrometric station in La Recova recorded a sharp rise, prompting the activation of emergency resources and urging residents to avoid riverbanks and flood‑prone areas.

A separate red alert was also imposed for the commune of Molina following a critical increase in the Palos River’s discharge in the Junta con Colorado sector. The DGA confirmed that the river’s level surpassed the red limit, leading Senapred to cancel the previous yellow warning and mobilize additional response teams. Authorities warned the public to follow official channels, stay away from inundated zones, and cooperate with emergency crews.
