Maule region commemorates International Day of Rural Women

More than 200 women from the four provinces of the Maule region gathered in Talca to commemorate the International Day of Rural Women. Organized by INDAP and the Rural Women's Table, the event recognized various farmers and artisans for their contributions to local development and their families.

During the ceremony, regional authorities and the national director of INDAP, Antonella Pecchenino, highlighted the essential productive and familial roles these women play in the country. Governor Pedro Pablo Álvarez-Salamanca also noted the potential for local peasant entrepreneurship, such as flower production in Longaví, to expand into international markets.

The event included a peasant market showcasing food, flowers, and crafts. According to regional government data, over one thousand women participate in five programs funded by the FNDR and executed by INDAP, focusing on areas such as irrigation, renewable energies, productive reconversion, and commercialization to strengthen economic autonomy.
