Chile implements regional social benefits and safety measures

Various regional initiatives and social measures are being implemented across Chile. In the Maule Region, more than 163,000 children will receive the Extraordinary Child Support Bonus, representing an investment of approximately $4.9 billion pesos. Similarly, in La Araucanía, the bonus is reaching roughly 151,000 children, totaling up to $4.53 billion pesos.

The bonus, established by Law No. 21,840, provides a single payment of $30,000 per child for those up to 13 years old belonging to the most vulnerable 80% of households according to the Social Household Registry. Children in alternative family care are also eligible without socioeconomic requirements. Payments are processed automatically through the Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS).

Other regional activities include preventive campaigns by SernamEG in Arica to protect women during national holidays, and labor inspections in Tarapacá to ensure bus drivers receive mandatory rest periods. In Algarrobo, the Labor Safety Institute (ISL) provided first aid and fire extinguisher training to food stall operators. Additionally, in the Los Lagos Region, local authorities have raised concerns regarding the non-operational status of the hyperbaric chamber at the Quellón Hospital, which poses risks to local divers.
