Maureen Madden runs for Delaware’s 38th House District

Democrat Maureen ‘Mo’ Madden has filed to run for the Delaware House of Representatives in the 38th District for the 2025 election. The seat has been held by Republicans for over two decades, but the race has opened up following the announcement that Republican State Representative Ron Gray will not seek reelection after seven terms.

Madden is a retired federal civil servant with a master’s degree in physics. Her professional background includes nearly 23 years at NASA and over seven years at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). She intends to apply her experience in negotiation and collaboration to the legislature.

During her campaign, Madden highlighted the rapid development in Sussex County as a primary concern. She noted that significant growth is placing increased pressure on local infrastructure, including roads, schools, emergency services, and water and sewer systems, stating a need for increased funding for these essential services.
