Max Uhlig appointed interim coach of Austria Wien

Max Uhlig has been appointed as the interim coach of Austria Wien following the departure of Stephan Helm. The club seeks to reverse a difficult start to the Bundesliga season, which included seven losses in ten matches.

Sport Director Tomas Zorn expressed full support for the 33-year-old, noting that Uhlig’s familiarity with the club makes him the best candidate for the current situation. Uhlig, who previously coached the Young Violets, emphasized that his approach will be based on performance principles rather than guaranteed playing time.

Uhlig’s first task will be the Cup round-of-16 match against TSV Hartberg. Zorn has requested patience from supporters, stating that the coaching staff are “not magicians” and that the club will evaluate Uhlig’s performance and football philosophy during the winter break.
