Max Verstappen confirms he will race in Formula 1 through 2027 after regulation changes
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen told reporters at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal that he intends to continue racing in Formula 1 in the 2027 season, unless “something really crazy” occurs. He praised the FIA’s upcoming 2027 rule package, which will shift the power‑unit split to 60 % internal‑combustion and 40 % electric, describing the change as a positive step toward a better product.
Verstappen, who has been critical of the current 2026 50‑50 split, said the new regime improves matters such as excessive electric‑boost reliance and battery‑management issues. He also expressed enthusiasm for remaining with Red Bull long‑term and mentioned his involvement in other projects. The Dutch champion highlighted his recent participation in the 24‑Hour Nürburgring endurance race in Germany, noting the experience and indicating he may return next year if the event does not clash with the F1 calendar.
