Max Verstappen criticises F1 rules after podium finish at Canadian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen secured third place at the Canadian Grand Prix, his first podium of the 2024 season. After the race he called the current Formula One regulations “anti‑racing” and “anti‑driving”, urging the sport to adopt the proposed 2027 engine rule that would shift the hybrid power split from roughly 50‑50 to 60‑40 to promote more natural overtaking.
Foreign media outlets reviewed his performance. Germany’s Auto, Motor und Sport rated him a 9, noting his lack of confidence in the car early in the weekend but praising his eventual podium. Britain’s Autosport gave an 8, highlighting a noticeable improvement after the sprint session and a decisive pass on Lewis Hamilton. Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport scored him 7.5, emphasizing that Verstappen still demonstrates why he is a four‑time world champion when given a chance to fight for the podium.
