Max Verstappen crashes out of Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort

Max Verstappen crashed heavily during the opening lap of the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort, ending his race prematurely. The Red Bull driver lost control while navigating a damp section of the banked Arie Luyendyk corner on slick tires. Verstappen admitted the incident was his fault, noting he attempted to accelerate too early upon seeing a dry patch of asphalt.

The high-speed impact caused significant damage to his car and triggered a red flag to clear debris. Despite the severity of the crash, Verstappen escaped without injury. The incident also caused near-misses for other drivers; Gabriel Bortoleto spun in the same section, and Nico Hulkenberg narrowly avoided colliding with him.

Verstappen expressed frustration not only with the crash but with Red Bull's lack of competitive pace throughout the weekend. He noted that the team appeared to be the fourth fastest on average, trailing significantly behind leaders like McLaren and Ferrari.
