On a damp track, Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull at the banked Arie Luyendijk corner after touching a white line, striking the outer wall before spinning across the track. Verstappen took responsibility for the incident, stating, “It was probably a little too early,” when referring to his attempt to find grip while transitioning from a wet patch to a dry line. While he was reported to be physically uninjured and underwent mandatory medical checks, the impact caused significant damage to his car, ending his race at his home event. Verstappen also expressed frustration regarding Red Bull’s lack of competitive pace, noting the team appeared to be the fourth fastest on average, trailing McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari.

The incident caused immediate chaos, forcing Pierre Gasly to take evasive action and nearly causing a collision involving Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg. The event was ultimately won by Lando Norris.

Following the event, sporting director Jan Lammers issued an emotional farewell to fans, noting that since the race's return in 2021, the event had seen nearly two million visitors. Logistical operations are now underway to dismantle the circuit's facilities, including the removal of grandstands and temporary structures.
