Max Verstappen questions FIA engine data regarding Red Bull advantage

Max Verstappen has questioned the implications of FIA ADUO measurements that identify Red Bull-Ford Powertrains as having the strongest internal combustion engine (ICE) on the Formula 1 grid. While the data suggests Mercedes trails Red Bull by an estimated 2% to 4% in ICE performance, Verstappen noted that these figures do not account for the battery or the total power delivery of the hybrid system.

Verstappen explained that the ICE and the battery are two distinct components, and a strength in one could be offset by a weakness in the other. He suggested that while Red Bull might lead in combustion engine performance, Mercedes could be delivering comparable total power due to superior battery deployment.

Rather than viewing the FIA findings as a definitive advantage, the driver emphasized the need for continuous development across the car, engine, and battery to ensure overall performance.
