Max Verstappen has publicly questioned these measurements, noting that a strength in combustion could be offset by a weakness in electric deployment.

In response to these controversies and unintended consequences, the FIA is now evaluating potential reforms to the ADUO system. The review addresses the paradox where teams with highly efficient thermal-electric units, such as Mercedes, can access development opportunities while Red Bull remains restricted. Proposed changes aim to improve the mechanism for all constructors and provide specific support to Honda. Discussions among engine manufacturers are expected to take place this week, with regulatory adjustments already planned for 2027.
