Max Verstappen wins Singapore Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc takes second
Max Verstappen secured victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, marking a significant moment alongside his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase. Verstappen expressed emotional reflections on their partnership, noting that Lambiase, who is set to depart Red Bull for McLaren, joined him on the podium. Verstappen admitted he felt he had ‘almost cursed himself’ after previously telling Lambiase they would win many more races together.
Charles Leclerc finished in second place for Ferrari, marking his first podium since the Belgian Grand Prix. While pleased with the result, Leclerc noted he was ‘not incredibly happy’ due to a perceived loss of ground to competitors like Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren. He highlighted challenges with tire degradation during the final stint and suggested he could have been more aggressive at the start to challenge Verstappen for the lead.
Leclerc acknowledged that recent upgrades helped the Ferrari SF-26, but emphasized the importance of how quickly teams can introduce further developments to remain competitive in the ongoing technical battle.
