Maya artisans in Yucatán can apply for ApoyArte federal credits
Maya female artisans in Yucatán can now apply for oral credits through the federal program ApoyArte. The initiative, led by the Mexican Secretariat of Culture in coordination with Financiera para el Bienestar (Finabien), aims to facilitate the purchase of materials and strengthen the productive activities of indigenous women while preserving Maya cultural heritage.
Registration for the program will take place from September 30 to October 3 in several municipalities, including Maní, Maxcanú, Mérida, Izamal, Oxkutzcab, Peto, and Ticul. To apply, women must be at least 18 years old and provide official identification, CURP, proof of address, and photographs of their artisanal work.
The federal government announced a budget of 500 million pesos for 2025. Individual support ranges from 10,000 to 50,000 pesos, while collectives or cooperatives can receive between 50,000 and 300,000 pesos. This year, the program has invested 476.68 million pesos, benefiting 17,892 indigenous and Afro-Mexican artisans.
