Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila tackles Matamoros drainage, PepsiCo fire

Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila held a meeting with leaders of several neighborhoods in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, to review municipal progress. He reported that more than 300 sanitary drainage rehabilitations have been completed in the first 21 months of his administration, highlighted advances in potable‑water supply, and reaffirmed that drainage, paving, public services and security remain top priorities. The session identified specific water‑and‑drainage needs for each sector and pledged continued coordination between the community and local government.

The mayor also addressed rumors that PepsiCo might leave the city after a fire at its distribution center on July 27, which damaged 57 delivery trucks. He said the company continues operating, that no jobs have been lost, and that more than 1,500 employees remain employed. PepsiCo confirmed its commitment to the community, denied any threats, and is cooperating with authorities investigating the cause of the blaze.
