Matamoros PepsiCo fire response

On 27 July 2026 a fire devastated PepsiCo’s Sabritas distribution centre in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, destroying dozens of delivery trucks. Local prosecutors opened an investigation, pointing to a short‑circuit as the likely cause and ruling out organized‑crime involvement. PepsiCo Mexico reported no prior threats, pledged to replace the lost trucks and affirmed that its operations would continue in the city.

A few days later, Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila held a community meeting to review municipal projects, highlighting more than 300 drainage rehabilitations and improvements to water supply. He also addressed circulating rumors that the fire might force PepsiCo to leave the area, confirming that the company remains operational, that no jobs have been lost and that over 1,500 employees continue to work there. The mayor reiterated the city’s commitment to public services and security while coordinating with PepsiCo and authorities on the incident’s aftermath.
