Rio Branco mayor opens Acre's 24th Journalism Sports Championship

The 24th edition of the Campeonato da Imprensa, a sports competition for journalists organized by the Sindicato dos Jornalistas Profissionais do Acre (Sinjac), opened on Sunday, July 26, at the Associação Atlética Banco do Brasil (AABB) in Rio Branco. The ceremony was attended by municipal officials including Mayor Alysson Bestene, chief of staff Rutemberg Crispim, and special communications secretary Ailton Oliveira, as well as Sinjac president Luiz Cordeiro and AABB president Fabrício Lopes de Almeida.

During the opening, Bestene praised the event, stating, “We make it a point to support initiatives like this because sport brings people together, strengthens friendships and creates a healthy environment.” Cordeiro highlighted the competition’s role in fostering camaraderie among communication professionals, describing it as “more than a competition, a moment of friendship and strengthening the bonds between the press.” The event featured a breakfast provided by Sinjac, followed by the first matches of the football tournament.
