In mid‑July, the city of Rio Branco hosted the Campeonato Acreano Sub‑20 final, where the local club Rio Branco, the most successful team of the 21st century in the competition, saw Santa Cruz and Independência contest a goalless first leg before the decisive match at O Tonicão stadium.

A little later, Rio Branco’s municipal government inaugurated the 24th Campeonato da Imprensa, a sports tournament for journalists organized by the local journalists’ union. Mayor Alysson Bestene and other city officials attended the opening, underscoring the city’s commitment to using sport to foster community ties and support professional camaraderie.
