Mayor Bara Gaye Joins Senegal's Kiiraay Presidential Party

Bara Gaye, the mayor of Yeumbeul Sud and former youth leader of the Democratic Party of Senegal (PDS), announced his entry into Kiiraay‑Les Patriotes républicains, the new presidential party founded by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

The decision followed two meetings at the presidential palace on 9 July and a few days later, where the two men discussed the upcoming Dakar 2026 Olympic Village project and Gaye’s political alignment. President Faye expressed a desire to have Gaye by his side, and Gaye accepted, bringing his supporters and “arms and baggage” into the new party. Kiiraay was officially launched on 25 July in Dakar, and Gaye plans to convene his local militants to discuss the move.
