Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas invests over 12 million pesos in Nuevo Laredo school infrastructure

Nuevo Laredo mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal led a work tour to deliver school‑infrastructure projects totaling more than 12.2 million pesos. The upgrades included the reconstruction of an arc‑roof and the construction of a three‑classroom module at Technical Secondary School No. 94 “Amalia González Caballero de Castillo Ledón,” and the replacement of the perimeter wall at Technical Secondary School No. 47 “José Vasconcelos.”

The combined works benefit 1,268 students in the Valles del Paraíso, Buenavista and Solidaridad neighborhoods. At School No. 94, the project added air‑conditioning, lighting, water fountains, 120 desks and other furnishings, serving 498 pupils. The wall renovation at School No. 47 serves 770 students. The mayor said, “Lo que queremos es que nuestras niñas, niños y jóvenes tengan grandes oportunidades,” emphasizing education as a priority. Student Mailín González thanked the effort, noting that the new classrooms “represent much more than physical spaces; they mean opportunities and a better future.”

Canturosas highlighted that the municipal actions complement federal initiatives such as President Claudia Sheinbaum’s universal scholarship and the “La Escuela es Nuestra” program, reinforcing the city’s commitment to improving educational facilities.
